Local enforcement officers from municipality of Denpasar have sealed the construction site of Harrad Hotel located in Sanur, adjacent to the Blue Eyes Karaoke, for failure to hold the necessary building permit.
According to one of the enforcement officers, the hotel under construction has no valid building permit but there are also indications that the building exceeds the building to land coefficient of 30%.
Officials say the new hotel project is devoid of any of the required permits and licenses – including a principle permit or building permit.
Quoted in Bisnis Bali, Ketut Nick Nata Wibawa of Denpasar's enforcement agency said: "For now, we will stop the construction of the hotel because all the permits and other requirements are completely unaddressed. If they rebel, we will be required to forcibly demolish the building with bulldozers."
Another zoning official, A.A. Bagus Airawata, explained that the government had sent three warning letters to the hotel on its lack of a building permit before sealing the construction site. "The owners has shown bad faith and continues to refuse our summons," explained Airawata.
During the same week in which the Harrad Hotel site was sealed, Denpasar authorities also sealed and closed the new Alfa Mini-Mart on Jalan Tukad Yeh Aya and the Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet on Jalan Gatot Subroto. The mini-mart holds the necessary building permits but did not posses the required business location permit (SITU HO), Business registration (TDF) or business permit for a modern company (IUTM). The Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet operating without the required building permit.
In sealing building sites lacking building permits officials typically also take into custody various pieces of construction equipment to prevent the continuing construction of the building until the required permits are in hand.
