The Jakarta Post reports that legendary English heavy-metal band Iron Maiden will perform in Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia in February 2011.
Formed in 1975, the group has 31 albums in its discography which have sold over 100 million copies. Over the years, the band has performed in over 2,000 live concerts.
Iron Maiden has occasionally, however, been mired in controversy due to frequent Satanic references embedded in song titles, lyrics album titles and even the branding of the charter flight used on their overseas tours (Flight 666). The band's leader, Steve Harris has denied links with the occult, pointing to the band's drummer Nicko McBrain who is a born-again Christian, as just one proof of the group's separation from any "forces of evil."
In any case, Indonesian audiences will soon be able to judge "the Beast" for themselves. While details of the Indonesian performance remain few, Tommy Pratama of Jakarta-based Original Productions told tempointeraktif.com that the Iron Maiden concert in Jakarta would take place on February 17 and 18, 2011. The Bali performance would be held on February 19 or 20, 2011.
