On December 15, 2010, the cost of the public ferry service connecting Bali and Java, between Gilimanuk and Ketapang, will increase 19.6%.
Confirmation of the increase was provided to the Bali Post by Nurul Azizah, the head of the planning bureau for the Ministry of Transportation speaking at the Ketapang port near Banyuwangi, East Java on Thursday, December 2, 2010.
Nurul said the increases in tariffs will occur simultaneously at 24 different ferry crossings in Indonesia on December 15th. Because of the short distance of 5 kilometers of the Java to Bali crossing, the amount of the increase is, comparatively speaking, the smallest.
Passengers will see the cost of a ticket increase 5.26% while cars will pay 19.6% more for the crossing.
