Singapore Airlines & Garuda Sign Codeshare Deal

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Garuda Indonesia (GA) have agreed to mutually promote their services through a just signed codeshare agreement that will give each company the opportunity to sell each other flights on a reciprocal basis.

Codeshares will allow passengers on SIA and GA to purchase flights by the cooperating airline but using a flight code from the originating carries.

Codeshares are intended to offer more flight options to travelers by enabling single bookings across multiple planes and airlines.

The GA and SIA agreement provides for mutual bookings on the flights between Bali and Singapore.

Ng Kian Wah, a senior vice president of SIA told The Jakarta Post: "We are naturally delighted to have signed a codeshare agreement with Garuda Indonesia. It stems from our mutual desire to offer more choice of flights for our customers, enhance the popular island destination of Bali's accessibility to the world and maximize the advantages of our route networks for the benefit of customers of both airlines."

The codeshare will also facilitate interline bookings on Garuda's vast domestic network by SIA and on SIA's vast international flight connections by Garuda's passengers.
