National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is adding an estimated 14,312 seats to meet the added demand of the 2010-2011 Christmas and New Year holidays.
The vice-president for corporate communications at Garuda, Pujobroto, has confirmed that added seats and flights will be added on the Jakarta-Singapore sectors and Jakarta-Singapore sectors during the period December 23, 2010 through January 3, 2011. Pujobroto confirmed that over the holiday period there will be 6,950 more seats operating between Jakarta and Denpasar and 7,632 seats between Jakarta and Singapore. He went on to explain that the additional seats will come on line via either added flight frequencies or substituting aircraft used on existing flights with aircraft of greater capacity.
The additional flights represent an approximate 10% increase in overall seat capacity for Garuda during the two-week peak travel period.
