Carry On, Peter Dorney!

Following the publication of "Chip Butties" detailing war-time memories of being raised in female dominated household in Manchester, England, and "Chinese Takeway" recording the misadventures of a group of expatriate English teachers in Singapore – Singapore author Peter Dorney's latest book hits both close to home and bone, focusing on the island of Bali.

"Bali & Chips" is a fast-paced romp relating the daily trauma of an English on-site Hotel Rep from Manchester working in a 5-Star hotel on Sanur Beach, Bali. Guests that include Mo Swindlehurst, from the North of England, a groups of "Aussie Cozzie boys" and some of Continental Europeans tossed in for good measure appear as the plot alternatively unfolds or unravels.

Balidiscovery.com:Peter, I'm still saving to buy a Kindle. Help me out here, please describe your books?

Dorney: "Dead funny. Modesty runs in the family."

Balidiscovery.com: What are your ambitions for 2011?

Dorney: "To be exposed by Wikileaks."

Balidiscovery.com: Why's that? Have you sent any revealing messages recently?

Dorney: "Well, there was the one which said I had evidence that Dame Edna was indeed Harry Potter's real mother…for starters."

Balidiscovery.com: I heard you just were named a 'Monk for a Day' in Thailand - what was that all about?

Dorney: " I won a competition run by the Renaissance Hotel in Phuket in which entrants were asked to suggest an '11th Wish' to go with the ten wishes they offer guests each day. I suggested being a 'Monk for a Day and won. So I've just been there with a photographer. The film should be out soon."

Balidiscovery.com: Hmm…by the way, nice saffron robe. So how was the experience?

Dorney: "Other than the 3 am start ...fine. . .though I don't think I could do it again."

Balidiscovery.com: Any interesting parts you'd care to share with us?

Dorney: Well, as we walked down the road with a monk collecting breakfast in our begging bowls I thought I saw Angelina Jolie negotiating for half a dozen orphans at a nearby monastery. It was still dark though and I can't be sure...so don't quote me."
