Giving Bali a Sporting Chance

BIZNET Bali international Triathlon Endorsed by Badung Government for Promoting Bali to the World Through Sports.

Bali News: Giving Bali a Sporting Chance

(5/28/2011)

The national news agency Antara reports that the Vice-regent of Badung, Drs. i Ketut Sudikerta, welcomes and supports the BIZNET Bali international Triathlon which will be held for the fifth time in Bali on June 26, 2011.

Said Sudikerta on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, “I am very supportive of this international event which will be held on the beaches and hills of Jimbaran.”

At a meeting in which he received members of the organizing committee of the BIZNET Bali international 2011, the vice-chairman of Bali’s most populous regency  reminded the organizers that in addition to undertaking careful planning and preparations, they must also ”nunas ica” or seek the blessing of the Almighty for the event by undertaking simple religious rituals.

Sudikerta said: “This is important because this event will involve athletes from many countries. And when God gives his blessing, then we can be assured that all will go smoothly.”

Underling the importance of the event that continues to grow every year and has won numerous international awards for Bali, he said the BIZNET Bali International Triathlon has the potential of increasing the number of tourists visiting Bali.

The event director for the BIZNET Bali international Triathlon 2011, Andreas Kansil, paid tribute to the Bandung administration and the people of the regency, saying the international sporting event would not be possible without the support and cooperation of the people of Bali.

The Triathlon comprised of both Olympic and Sprint distance events, gets underway at 7:00 am on the beach in front of the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay. With an Olympic event comprised of a 1.5 km swim, a 42 km bike race through Nusa Dua and the Ungasan peninsula, and a 10 km road race; a Sprint distance event covering the same sports but over half the distance; and a five km “fun run”- some 500 athletes are expected to join this year’s race with athletes from over 20 countries.

Reflecting the support and excitement from the local community for the event, teams from the police and local hotels will also be competing in this year’s race.

in addition to the regent and Kansil, also attending the meeting at the Regency Administrative Headquarters between the organizers of the BIZNET Bali international Triathlon and the regency were the service head (Kadis) for tourism for Badung Cokorda Raka Darmawan, the Kadis for education and sports I Ketut Widia Astika, the Kadis for transportation, communications and information I Made Sutama and John M. Daniels, the president director of Bali Discovery Tours who are the local organizers for the event.
