30 traditional artists from the village of Payangan, Gianyar, Bali will travel to France to appear in the Montoire International Folklore Festival to be held in Motroire-sur-le-Loir, August 9-15, 2011.
The Balinese contingent from the Yasa Putra Sedana Foundation in Payangan is comprised of traditional musicians and dancers.
According to the foundation's chairman, Dewa Rai Budiasa, during the month long trip in Europe the Balinese arts troupe will also appear at the Festival de Bray-Bunes on the French-Belgian border and the Festival de Fellentin in Central France.
Dewa Rai Budiasa said, "we have been invited twice to Montoire by the festival's founder, Jen Francois Proux. The same art group visited there in 1987. Prior to our departure, the artists have been practicing intensively so they can maximize their appearance in France."
The Montoire International Folklore Festival, established in 1973, was among the first European Folklore Festival, but is now joined by a host of similar event inviting participation by world artists.
