The Indonesian Department of Manpower has acknowledged three hotels in Bali as fostering excellent management-employee relations.
As reported by The Jakarta Post, the three hotels singled out for recognition were the Hotel Melia, Amankila and Sanur Paradise Plaza.
Putu Satyawira Mahendra, head of the Badung Tourism Workers Union (SP-Bar), who attended an national award program in Jakarta, explained the three Bali companies were selected after a review by Manpower officials of many companies in Bali. “The selection criteria include the level of communications openness between management and employees, as well as the extent of management’s willingness to fulfill obligations to the employees and vice-versa,” explained Mahendra.
Bali currently has only 55 active unions out of some 2,500 tourism enterprises. The 55 companies represent a combined union membership of 10,178 workers.
