The growth in ownership of new cars in Bali averages 35 new cars every day.
According to Beritabali.com, the demand for more cars in Bali is a reflection of the growing economy and the number of new migrants settling on the island.
Governor Made Mangku Pastika said the growth in the number of cars in Bali is keeping pace with the increase in the ownership of motorcycles estimated to increase by 100 each day. The rapid and continual growth in motorcycles and cars in Bali is a significant factor contributing to Bali’s traffic congestion.
Said the governor: “Traffic congestion depends on many factors. First, there is the condition of the roads. Then there is the growing number of new vehicles. Third, there is road behavior. Because of all these things, we have to think of what new roadways we have to build, under passes or flyovers?”
Pastika said the new toll way connection Nusa Dua – Ngurah Rai Airport – Benoa represents one solution to traffic congestion in Bali’s south. The governor said the new toll way is expected to handle some 30,000 vehicles each day.
