Bali’s governor Made Mangku Pastika has cancelled plans for a working visit to Australia to discuss disaster management.
According to Metronews.com, the cancellation of Pastika’s visit to Australia is connected to the governor’s health. Pastika is recovering from heart bypass surgery performed in Singapore in July and a recent 3-day hospitalization for a severe cold.
The governor, speaking while attending a plenary session of the provincial House of Representatives on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, said: “In those meeting I was supposed to make two appearances. I saw the agenda was very full, with every hour filled with activities. But, because doctors have said that I need to rest, I have decided not to go.”
The governor’s now cancelled trip to Australia was to have taken place October 4-6 during which discussions with Australian agencies and officials were planned on emergency responses to natural disasters, terrorist acts and sabotage.
The governor was also expected to participate in fund raising activities on behalf of Bali’s Sanglah General Hospital.
