Beritabali.com reports that the families and surviving victims of the Bali bombings, who are members of Paguyuban Isana Dewata, celebrated Valentines Day on February 14, 2013 by gathering at “Ground Zero” – the monument to commemorate the victims of terrorist bombs in Bali.
Those commemorating the “day of love” distributed chocolates and flowers to domestic and foreign visitors passing by the monument.
The chairperson of Isana Dewata, Luh Erniati, told the press that her group was using Valentines Day to spread a message of love and to recall that the tragedy of the Bali bombings can be traced to feelings of hatred.
“The tragedy that happened in Bali, that took away from us people we loved, was motivated by feelings of hate and anger that led to a desire to kill and injure. For that reason,we use this day to remind all people of the importance of cultivating feelings of love,” said Luh Erniati.
She urged all members of the community to help spread the feeling of love as a means of fostering peace.
In addition to sharing flowers and chocolates with passersby, the group also led group prayers at the “Ground Zero” monument.
