The Jakarta Post reports that PT Telkom (PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia) is targeting the installation of 250,000 WiFi access points across Bali to be completed during 2013.
“There will be 50,000 WiFi access points in public places, and 200,000 in housing facilities,” according to Ketut Budi Utama, general manager of the south Bali office of PT Telkom.
The new WiFi spots will represent a major jump from the current 3,800 WiFi spots in public places and the 15,000 previously planned for public areas.
Similarly impressive is the hike in WiFi points in housing areas from the current 3,000 spots to 200,000.
The Bali installations form part of Telkom’s plan to install 1 million wireless Internet service points across all of Indonesia.
