(4/4/2013)

If relaxing with a drink or two or three is part of your Bali holiday plans, then the luxurious Uma by COMO near the center of Ubud should be included in your travel itinerary.

While the delightful boutique property is justifiably famous for its tasteful accommodation, pampering spa, yoga and meditation programs and excellent cuisine – the Resort’s bartenders refuse to be sink quietly into the shadows, concocting attention-getting refreshing libations, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Guest and visitors participating in the Uma by COMO’s health and wellness programs will be drawn to healthy smoothies and fresh-pressed juices. For those interested in “adult refreshments” will enjoy that fine wines, champagnes and signature martinis are on offer each day from 10:00 an until midnight.

Drinks at Uma by COMO are best enjoyed at Uma’s Pool Bar. Light snack and atmospheric music accompany drinks – both classics from the pages of Mr. Boston and custom beverages dreamed up by the Resort’s team of expert mixologists.

One of a kind signature cocktails available at the Pool Bar include “Gin ‘n Jam” – premium gin muddled with lemon juice and Uma’s home-made jam or a “Tequila Sipper” that incorporates strawberries, balsamic, basil, lime and agave nectar.

Those needing a special occasion before they pull up a chair at the bar will be pleased to know that Uma by Como have special bar events starting each day of the week at 5:00 pm.

Martini Moments

Have a “shaken not stirred” dry martini or a more contemporary “new age” takes on a classic martini that includes cucumber and mint or jasmine tea and ginger.

Martini aficionados take note: Uma by COMO celebrates the martini each evening, Monday to Friday starting from 5:00 pm when three martinis are served for the price of two. "Designated counters" are available for those ordered a second (or was a third?) round of Martinis.

Prices start from Rp. 110,00 plus tax and service (US$13).

Make Your Own Mojito

On Sunday’s the Pool Bar’s team conduct classes on how to make the perfect mojito, encouraging guest to join them behind the bar and study the intricacies of mixing the rum, mint, sugar cane and limejuice drink that traces its roots back to Havana.

Quick or thirsty learners are encouraged to pursue the entire syllabus of Mojito 101 – mastering the classic recipe before moving on to other variations such as “Lemongrass and Ginger” or the signature “Uma Mojito”.

Mojito class at Uma by Como convenes at the Pool Bar every Sunday starting at 5:00 pm.

Prices start from Rp. 100,000 plus tax and service (US$12).

Saturday Sangria

Saturdays in Ubud feature authentic sangria – served in a large coupe for two and chock full of fresh fruits, and accompanied by crispy calamares fritos.

Sangria service starts every Saturday evening from 5:00 pm. Prices start from Rp. 120,000 plus tax and service (US$14.50).
