The chairman of the Bali Tourism Transportation Association (PAWIBA), Bagus Soediana, said his organization fully supports the provision of an armada of shuttle vehicles for Ubud as a means to reduce traffic congestion in the popular arts community located in Central Bali.
As reported by Bisnis Bali, Soediana said the proposed shuttle service would provide transport from the satellite parking space for passengers off visiting buses to destinations within the Ubud community and reduce traffic congestion in the popular sub-destination in Bali.
Because of this, Soediana applauds steps underway to create satellite parking as an appropriate step to accommodate a growing number of tourists on Ubud’s small and narrow streets that are unable to handle large buses.
Soediana also supports plans that would give the Gianyar regency the right to operate the shuttle service around Ubud. “Only the shuttle vehicles would be allowed to deliver tourists around Ubud,” he explained.
The PAWIBA chairman warned that both Ubud and Bali’s reputation will suffer if the problems of traffic congestion is not urgently addressed in Ubud. The operation of a satellite parking system in cooperation with a shuttle service, he believes, will reduce the use of fossil fuels, minimize pollution and, most importantly, help eliminate stress for visitors to Ubud.
