The State News Agency Antara confirms that the province of Bali will soon include Bali’s airport in the Trans-Sarbagita Public Bus System in order to further reduce traffic congestion in Bali.
The chief of the Transportation, Information and Communication Service (Dishubinfokom) for the province of Bali, Dewa Putu Punia Asa, said on Friday, April 12, 2013, “At the same time this (the bus system) will stimulate the publics to use public transport as a means of overcoming traffic congestions traveling in and out of the airport.”
Routes traveling from Sanur and Nusa Dua to the airport are now being tested.
“We have been preparing these routes for a long time, now the only problem is the bus stops (halte) and finding the buses to serve the new route,” said Asa.
He said that the plan for public transport to visit the airport is part of a national program.
In closing, Asa said: “We are now waiting for the buses (to be used on the route) to come from Jakarta.”
As a temporary measure, plans are to borrow buses from other Trans-Sarbagita routes.
