The Bali Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warns that seasonal strong winds and high waves will plagued much of Bali over the busy Idul Fitri Holidays and beyond.

As reported by The Jakarta Post, I Nyoman Gede Wirajaya of the BMKG says strong winds and high waves of 3.5 to 4 meters in height will sweep the southern shores of Bali.

Local ferry service, yachts and day boat operators will be keeping a close watch on the developing weather situation in concert with local port masters (Syahbandar).

Ferry services between Bali and East Java and Bali and Lombok reaches peak levels during the Idul Fitri holidays due to the heavy influx of domestic tourists and the diasporic movement of Indonesian Moslems returning to home villages and cities to celebrate the Islamic New Year.

Wiryajaya warned that strong winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour might be generated due to temperature variances between the northern and southern parts of Indonesia and tropical storm disturbances operatng in the South China Sea.

BMKG warns the pattern of strong winds and high seas will remain a part of weather conditions for Bali for most of August and September.
