The Regency of Bangli in Bali is preparing to create rules regulating vendors operating in tourism destination areas, such as Kintamani and Lake Batur.
Beritabali.com reports that the coming regulations will take the form of regional laws (perda) or regulations issued by the Regent (perbup).
A statement issued on July 20, 2013 by he Regent of Bangli, Made Gianyar, clarified that the new rules and regulations are needed to control and organize vendors at local tourism areas.
Many tourists complain of the over-aggressive behavior of traders who try to compel visitors to make purchases.
Made Gianyar estimates 1,000 traders current operating in his regency.
