Recent introduction of direct flights connecting Manila and Bali made possible the visit to Bali of Philippine singer-actress and media personality Rachel Alejandro who also operates “The Sexy Chef”- a health food delivery company.
Rachel Alejandro came to Bali for a four-day visit, lured, perhaps in part, by the promise of spiritual renewal descried in Elizabeth Gilbert’s book and Julia Robert’s movie “Eat Pray Love.”
Basing her stay in Ubud, Rachel said she felt like “the only brown girl lost in a sea of white people” then she landed in Ubud amidst “families and single women "of a certain age" hoping to find love just like in the book.”
Traveling with her husband, Rachel explored Ubud’s shops and eateries, but was most impressed by the “old Bali” still discoverable among traditional Balinese homesteads and ancient temples.
Her stay also managed to squeeze in a single night on the beach in Sanur; an outing for a dinner feast of babi guling (roast suckling pig), a diving outing to explore the water of nearby Nusa Penida island; and a day dedicated to exploring temples dotting the outskirts of Bali’s hillside community of Ubud.
Impressed by her brief Bali sojourn, Rachel wrote her family that she wants to return to Bali soon with her family in tow to share the magic of the Island.
