The Island of Bali has been named “Island Destination of the Year” at the China Travel & Meetings Industry Awards 2013 conducted by the Chinese travel publications Travel Weekly and Events.
As reported by the State News Agency Antara, Bali received the highest rating from a blue-ribbon jury of travel experts in China and the highest number of votes in the course on an on-line survey,
The Indonesian government website setkab.go.id reports that in winning the top honor, Bali won out over the destinations of Tahiti and Mauritius.
The award was presented on Thursday, September 4, 2012 by the chairman and president of Across China Communication, Hersey Cao. Receiving the award on behalf of Bali was the First Economic Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.
The president director of Contineo Media, Raymond Wong, who is the owner of Travel Weekly, said the purpose of the award is to acknowledge leaders in travel and the meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition sector
The China Travel & Meeting Industry Awards have been presented annually since 2002.
