Given a Wide Berth in Bali

Bali Port of Benoa Enlarged to Welcome More Cruise Ships

(11/15/2013) Following a dredging operation to increase the water depth of the port area and increases in the length of piers, Bali’s port of Benoa is ready to receive cruise vessels of up to 300 meters in length in 2014.

The general manager of Pelindo III – Benoa, Ali Sodikin, said on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 that Benoa would become the busiest cruise ship port in Indonesia in 2014.

He told Bisnis Bali that in March 2014 a 297-meter cruise ship is expected to berth at Benoa.

Sodikin revealed that Pelindo III is now working with cruise ship associations in Australia and Miami (Florida), and lobbying cruise ship operators worldwide to include Bali and Benoa in their itineraries.

Thus far in 2013, Benoa has been visited by 42 cruise ships. In 2014 47 ships are currently schedule to visit.

In addition, the number of yachts visiting Bali continues to grow, with most cruising from Thailand and Singapore to Bali.

The cruise facilities available at Benoa are divided into three sections:
