Malaysian Airline to End Los Angeles Flights

Malaysian Airlines Axes Los Angeles Service Eliminating Important Air Connection from USA to Bali

(2/2/2014) A decision by Malaysian Airlines (MAS) to suspend services between Kuala Lumpur and Los Angeles as part of a need to reduce losses and rationalize routes cannot be seen as good news for Bali tourism.

Malaysian Airlines’ attractive fares on daily service from Los Angeles and direct through connections via its multiple daily flight services between Kuala Lumpur and Denpasar (Bali) have made the airline a favorite among many U.S. passengers bound for Bali.

Malaysian Airline’s CEO, Jauhari Yahya, issued a statement saying: "While MAS has a long history in Los Angeles, this route is no longer economically viable. The factors contributing to this negative situation today include over capacity and competition resulting in lower yields, high cost of operating the B777 aircraft and pressure from continued increases in fuel costs.”

MAS will cease operations to Los Angeles on April 30, 2104.
