Indonesian Hotel Investment: Road to Rags or Riches?

Indonesian Hotel Investment Conference Convenes Experts to Identify Opportunities and Pitfalls Ahead

(5/9/2014) The Second Annual Indonesia Hotel Investment Conference (IHIC 2014) returns to Bali on Friday, June 6, 2014 featuring leaders from the accommodation investment sector to share insights and predictions on the Country’s fast-changing tourism sector.

Held at the Grand Nikko Bali Resort in Nusa Dua, the full-day program of plenary and breakout sessions will convene key-players and analysts to share insights on opportunities, weaknesses and threats awaiting investors and operators in the accommodation sector during the current transitional period in Indonesia’s political history.

Keynote speakers include the former Minister of Tourism and Culture, Drs. I Gede Ardika who is expected to question current models of cultural sustainability in the tourism sector and respected Indonesian business analyst Dr. Douglas Ramage who will highlight coming changes in Indonesia’s leadership and resulting impact on the political and economic landscape.

Jean-Charles Le Coz, the vice-chairman of the Bali Hotels Association (BHA), said: “The BHA is deeply honored by Bapak Ardika’s acceptance of our invitation to present the opening address at the Indonesian Hotel Investment Conference 2014 this June in Bali. His outstanding service to tourism in the Republic and his continuing crusade asking penetrating and much-needed questions on how tourism should be developed, will stimulate a lively dialogue at IHIC and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Douglas Ramage will share insights on the dynamic changes underway in the Indonesian political and business landscape in a year of political change. With more than 25 years experience in Indonesia, Ramage provides advice and guidance to Fortune 500 companies in Indonesia and is a much sought after speaker and commentator on Indonesia affairs with a proven track-record on helping major companies develop their risk assessments.

Informative panel sessions throughout the day will showcase more than 35 leaders in sessions addressing the investment outlook for Bali; a statistical review of the Indonesian Hotel Industry; the suitability of current development models; how to grow tourism while preserving the indigenous culture and the natural environment; challenges to building a hotel brand in Indonesia; recent innovations in smart design for hotels; the financing of accommodation projects; the challenges presented by social media, OTAs and new travel distribution networks; and the ins and outs of branded residences in Bali.

As with last year’s event, organizers are expecting owners, investors, money managers, hotel management companies, bankers, lawyers, architects and senior hotel management to attend IHIC 2014. Based on feedback from past participants, coffee breaks, a power lunch and a closing sundowner networking cocktail have been designed to maximize interaction among the conference’s diverse range of delegates.

The Bali conference is organized by the Bali Hotels Associaiton (BHA) which represents more than 100 hotels and resorts with more than 15,000 rooms and employing over 30,000 workers in conjunction with Horwath HTL – a respected name in hotel investment consultancy.

An admission fee of US$500 provides access to the conference and all networkinging sessions, with further discounts available to Bali Hotels Assocaition (BHA) or Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Members.
