Austrian Thomas Maier Head Food and Beverage at Grand Nikko Bali

(6/22/2014) Grand Nikko Bali has appointed Thomas Maier as director of food & beverage. He comes to the resort with over 10 years of culinary experience at a number of luxury hotel brands.

The Grand Nikko is Maier’s first appointment in Bali and followed assignments in food and beverage roles with Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort & Spa, IHG Crowne Plaza Hotel & Suites Landmark and Kempinski Resort & Spa Sanya in China.

Thomas Maier will be in charge of the entire F&B team of Grand Nikko Bali.

“It's a real privilege to join Grand Nikko Bali and I celebrate the cultural diversity of the people here at the resort. I will be encouraging everyone around me to work as a team so we can exceed the expectations of our guests as well as the Nikko brand,” said Thomas, who was based in China for more than 8 years and speaks fluent Chinese.

Born and raised in Austria, Thomas earned his Kitchen & Service Operations Certificate from the Hotel & Tourism Institute Modul Vienna. He began his career as a hospitality executive by managing his own restaurant in Vienna. Thomas was able to develop his kitchen skills and he later accepted F&B roles with renowned hotel brands in Shenzhen and Shanghai, China.

In his newest assignment Thomas will oversee the daily operations of all restaurant venues including Benkay Japanese Restaurant, The Shore Restaurant & Bar and in-room dining services. Under Thomas’s leadership, the F&B team will play a more active role in functions and special events such as wedding celebrations hosted at the resort.
