Dissolution of BP Budpar to Go Ahead

Minister Ardika Insists Presidential Decision Closing The Culture And Tourism Board Will Be Honored.

(6/9/2003) Despite a request from the National Parliament that the dissolution of the Culture and Tourism Promotion (BP-Budpar), ordered by the President on May 26th be delayed until 2004, Indonesia's Minister of Culture and Tourism, I Gede Ardika announced on Monday, June 2, 2003, that he intends to immediately carry out the Presidential Decree ordering the merging of the BP-Budpar with his Ministry for Culture and Tourism.

The BP-Budpar employs some 4,000 employees stationed in Jakarta and provincial offices across Indonesia. Minister Ardika has said that he hopes that the consolidation process, including any restructuring of personnel and budgets, will be concluded before the end of June.
