Indonesia Declared SARS Free

Minister of Health Gives Nation Clean Bill of Health for SARS.

(6/23/2003) Indonesia's Minister of Health, Achmad Sujudi at a press conference held in Jakarta on Thursday, June 19, 2003, formally declared that Indonesia has been free of any suspected or probable cases of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) since May 14, 2003.

During the entire course of the epidemic, Indonesia had no actual confirmed cases of SARS, recording only seven "suspected" cases and two "probable" cases of the disease. None of those nine patients were eventually confirmed as actual cases of SARS through laboratory testing protocols.

Meanwhile, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan have all now been formally cleared of any negative travel advisories issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) in connection with the corona virus-based potentially lethal respiratory infection.
