PATA's Bali Task Force

Special Meeting Set to Review Results of PATA Bali Recovery Task Force Sponsored by Bali Discovery Tours.

(9/1/2003) In mid-December 2002, a distinguished team of travel industry leaders volunteered their time to join a special task force convened by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to review Bali's status in the aftermath of the October 12, 2002 terror attack and recommend recovery strategies for the island.

The findings of that group, The PATA Bali Recovery Task Force Report, offers a comprehensive list of recommendations for Bali's recovery and for the establishment of a crisis management plan for the future.

Task Force Review Set for September 13

PATA Members are invited to attend a special meeting set for Saturday, September 13, 2003, at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC) in Nusa Dua to review the specific recommendations of the task force.

Participating in the half-day session will be Bert van Walbeek a member of the original Bali task force and Stephen Yong a staff member of PATA from the organization's Bangkok Headquarters. The program for the morning will include a review of the Task Force's recommendations and a panel discussion of Bali tourism experts to discuss what remains to be done in the Bali recovery plan.

Free of Charge

Admission to the review will be provided without charge to the first 100 qualified registrants and will include a coffee break and lunch, and copies of both a Bahasa Indonesia and English versions of the 60-page report.

Participation priority will be given to members of PATA.

Sponsored by Bali Discovery Tours

Bali Discovery Tours is sponsoring the cost of the meeting and luncheon for 100 participants and has undertaken a formal translation of the original report.

Those interested in attending the session should send an e-mail to the PATA Bali and Nusa Tenggara Chapter via the link below.
