Rotary Nusa Dua Funds Hospital Improvements

Sanglah's Burn Unit to Get Dedicated Operating Theatre.

(10/13/2003) Rotary Club of Nusa Dua, Bali is using funds collected in the aftermath of the October 12, 2002, terrorist attack to contribute additional funding for Australian Aid projects being carried out at Bali's Sanglah General Hospital. Funds under the Club's control will be used to improve the hospital's intensive care unit, cardiac care center, and a burns unit with its own dedicated operating theatre.

The Club has spent the past year meeting with local officials in order to determine the best use of the funds and finally decided that the bulk of the money at their disposal should be used for the establishment of a dedicate operating theatre in the hospitals newly renovated burns unit. In practical terms this will mean that burn victims being treated at the hospital will be able to now undergo surgery without having to leave the sterile environment maintained at the burns center.

Rotary Club Nusa Dua has a long-standing relationship with the Sanglah General Hospital assisting in the past in the establishments of a blood bank and the funding of cleft palate surgery at the facility.

A complete accounting of the funds collected and donations received are listed at the Club's website at www.rotarybali.org.
