Japan Airlines Reduces Bali Flights

Measure Seen as Temporary Following October 1st Bombing.

(10/22/2005) Japan Airlines (JAL) is temporarily reducing and consolidating its flights to Indonesia following the October 1, 2005, bombing of three Bali dining venues.

According to the Airline, more than 13,000 passengers cancelled planned Bali holidays for the period October December 2005 following the terrorist attack.

In the face of the cancellations and reduced demand, JAL is consolidating its Tokyo-Jakarta and Jakarta-Denpasar services for the limited period of November 11 December 21, 2005. Similarly, JAL's Osaka-Denpasar service will be suspended from October 30 through November 11, 2005, after which service will resume on a reduced level until the holiday high-season commences on December 21, 2005.

Japanese travelers represent the largest market of foreign visitors to Bali, generating 326,397 tourists in 2004.
