'Tutto Bene' – Fine Italian Dining Comes to Bali's Nusa Dua

Michelin Star-Rated Guest Chef Marcello Fabbri in Limited Engagement at The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali.

(3/25/2007) Marcello Fabbri obtained his first culinary experience in 1970 at the age of 9 working in the kitchen of his Aunt Maria's hotel in Rimini. The Italian quickly acquired a taste for the culinary arts and at the tender age of 13 he resolved to make a career of his passion for cooking and began training at Rimini's state catering school. After his day classes Marcello would work at Rimini's finest restaurant, the Caffè delle Rose under Chef Gino Angelini who, nearly three decades later, is generally acknowledged as the best Italian chef in his new home of Los Angeles.

Following his early professional training in his home town, there followed periods in Milan under Gualtiero Marchesi; and in Sardinia and in Munich under Mario Gamba, who was in the process of opening two first-class Italian restaurants.

From the Bavarian capital Marcello moved in October 1993 to Weimar's historic Hotel Elephant. As chef of the popular Anna Amalia Restaurant he acquired a reputation in fine dining circles as the Anna Amalia became established as the top gourmet restaurant in the eastern part of the enlarged German Federation. Der Feinschmecker Magazine included the Amalia on its prestigious list of the ten best foreign restaurants in Germany, while the Gault Millau Gourmet Guide gave Fabbri's cuisine an outstanding 17 points; and the Michelin Guide awarded Marcello Fabbri and his team coveted Michelin stars in four consecutive editions.

The German Chancellor Schröder, Russian Federation President Putin and the Belgian royal couple have all dined on Fabbri's creations; as have the former President of Italy Scalfaro and the actress-singer Jennifer Lopez.
