A Lapostolle Affair with Diego Urra

Ayana Resort and Spa Bali Evening of Fine Food and Premier Lapostelle Chilean Wines on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

(6/19/2010) While sunsets from the Cliffside of the Ayana Resort & Spa in Bali are always spectacular, a memorable evening of fine food and wine planned for Thursday, July 1, 2010, promises to be even more so when accompanied by a gourmet menu prepared by the Resort's Chef William Gumport and premium wines from Chilean estate of Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and Cyril De Bournet.

Lapostelle is a respected name in Chilean wine now enjoyed in more than 70 countries worldwide. The estates were founded in 1994 by the Marnier Lapostolle family from France and the Rabat family from Chile.

The Marnier Lapostelle family is an aged and esteemed name borne by the owners and founders of Grand Marnier as well as a host of other fine spirits and liqueurs. Less known, perhaps, is the family's generations-old connection with fine wine making that traces its roots back to the Loire Valley and as owners of Chateau de Sancere.

Transported to Chile, the Marnier-Lapostolle family hold true to the traditions of quality that have made Grand Marnier world famous. The family describes its vineyard in Colchagua, Chile as a "coup de Coeur" where their commitment to making world-class wines that combine French expertise and Chilean terroir are setting international standards for New World wines.

Using vines that are more than 100 years old and have never been grafted, Lapostelle now operates three vineyards producing 200,000 cases annually of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère, and Syrah.

An Evening to Remember

Starting at 6 p.m., just in time to toast the setting sun over the Indian Ocean, the Asmara Gazebo with its 350 year-old Javanese "joglo" will serve as the backdrop for an evening of great food, outstanding wines and gentle conviviality.

Lapostolle wine ambassador Diego Urra will be on hand to guide the diners through what promises to be a magical tasting experience of French-crafted Chilean wine.
