Eat Pray Love: The Bali Premiere

Hollywood Depiction of Bali-based Love Story – Eat Pray Love – to Open BALINALE Film Fest October 12-17, 2010.

(8/14/2010) While movie fans in the United States are enjoying the August world premiere of the Sony Pictures "Eat Pray Love" starring academy award-winning actress Julia Roberts, movie aficionados attending BALINALE 2010 International Film Festival are in for the special treat of attending the Indonesian premier of the film.

The Hollywood film shot in Italy, India and Bali will open the list of distinguished films to be shown October 12-17, 2010 in Bali.

Starring with Julia Roberts in the film version of Elizabeth Gilbert best-selling book is Javier Bardem as Robert's love interest in Bali. Also co-starring in "Eat Pray Love" are one of Indonesia's leading film actresses and BALINALE co-founder Christine Hakim as traditional healer Wayan Nuriyasih; Anakia as her daughter; and Hadi Subiyanto found during a nationwide casting search as ‘Ketut Liyer' the medicine man.

One third of the film is set on Bali dramatizing the visually rich culture and locations. The film has already had a positive economical impact on the island and on Indonesia in general, anticipating an increased interest in the country as a filming destination.

BALINALE 2010

Held on the paradise island of Bali, the 4th annual BALINALE promises to build on the great success of 2009 event and the record attendance numbers reached during the festival with its solid selection of 25 quality international and Indonesian feature films, documentaries and shorts from 12 countries.

"BALINALE continues to show its commitment in contributing to the development of Indonesia's film industry," said Deborah Gabinetti, founder and director of the BALINALE International Film Festival.

"Aside from the film festival, we are also conducting a film industry forum, students workshops, free seminars, free children's film program, and a short film competition, all of which we hope will encourage and increase both local and international interest in considering Indonesia as a feasible film location," added Gabinetti.
