Governor Pastika to Speak at Ubud Literary Festival

Governor and Former Bali Police Chief Made Pastika Slated to Speak at Ubud Readers and Writers Festival October 6-10, 2010.

(8/30/2010) Bali's governor and the former Chief of Police, I Made Mangku Pastika, has been invited to appear at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival in Bali from October 6-10, 2010.

In a section of the festival dubbed "In Conversation" the man credited with solving the 2002 Bali bombing and bringing the terrorist to justice will share his experience as a policeman in Bali.

A final confirmation of Made Pastika's attendance at the festival is due in early September.

In addition to an appearance by Bali's governor, the English author of "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" Louis de Bernieres is also slated to appear with 100 other writers from 28 countries. Also included in this year's program are BBC editor William Darlrymple, Thomas Keneaaly, Anne Enright, Louis de Bernieres, Christos Tsiolkas, Cate Kennedy, Rabih Alameddine, Tash Aw, Jon Bauer, Joan London, Frank Moorhouse and Lisa Teasley.

A number of acclaimed Indonesian writers are also coming to this year's "Ubud Readers & Writers Festival" including author, song composer and legendary social networker Dewi Lestari.
