The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming!

Aeroflot Seeing Permission to Fly Moscow to Bali Three Times a Week.

(10/25/2010) Antara reports that Russian airline Aeroflot plans to commence flights between Moscow and Denpasar, Bali to further stimulate travel between Russian and the island.

Herry Bakti Singayuda Gumay, the director general of civil aviation at the Ministry of Transpiration, said Aeroflot has made formal application to operate a three-time-a-week service between Moscow and Bali. "Previously Aeroflot flew to Denpasar on a non-scheduled or charter basis. Only now have they asked to operate a scheduled service," explained Gumay.

Transaero, another Russian airline, has occasionally flown into Bali on a charter basis.

The existing bi-lateral air agreements between Indonesia and Russia permit the two countries to operate 14 flights each week between the two countries. The agreement permits Russian flights to Jakarta, Denpasar, Solo and Manado while, on the other hand, Indonesian airlines are permitted to land in Moscow, Vladivostok, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
