Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo 2011

At Least 250 Participants Expected to Attend Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo 2011 March 9-11, 2011.

(3/7/2011) Bali has been named "The Best Spa Destination in the World" by SENSE magazine. The award, announced during the ITB travel fair in Berlin, saw Bali best competing destinations including Fiji, Guam, China and Thailand for the honor. Bali also walked away with additional awards:"The Sense Wellness Person" and "The Five-star-Diamond Lifetime Achievement award" presented by the president of the American Academy of Hospitality, Joe Cinque.

The latest in a long series of awards given to Bali as a leading spa destination heralds the Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo 2011 to be held March 9-11, 2011, at the Sanur Paradise Convention Center.

Similar events were held in Bali in 2007 and 2008, but with a lower-key local approach, aimed at educating the local spa industry in professional spa practice. The 2011 event, however, will be Bali's inaugural plunge into the hosting of a world-class spa exhibition.

The main goal of the Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo 2011 remains the support of small and medium-sized enterprises working in the areas of spa products, beauty and traditional jamu elixirs, and the promotion of these products to an international marketplace by creating an opportunity for buyers and sellers of spa products to meet in a single locale. Also, by bringing world spa leaders to Bali, the organizers wish to underline the unique qualities of the Bali spa and massage experience, preventing the techniques and skills developed on the island from being claimed by other destinations.

During the three-day event, educational seminars and workshops tailored to the needs of managers, owners and therapist are scheduled. Lessons will be shared on management techniques and the standardization of therapy practice, and tips on how to register spa products with the Indonesian regulatory agencies to better prepare for the coming era of free trade in the region.

The Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo 2011 is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Indonesian Department of Trade, the Agency for the Supervision of Food and Medicine (POM), the Provincial Government of Bali, the municipality of Denpasar, the Bali Spa Wellness Association, Bali Tourism Board and the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI).
