(7/2/2002) Foreign tourist arrivals to Bali decreased 5.6% for the first half of 2002, when compared to the same period just a year before. Despite the massive United Nation's sponsored Prepcom IV Conference in late May, only 521,191 foreign visitors arrived at Bali's Airport in the January-June period of 2002.
While a detailed breakdown of the arrival by nationalities is not yet available, earlier reports indicated downturns in the Australian and Japanese markets - traditional mainstays of Bali tourism.
