Public Bus Service to Baliís Airport

Bali Airport Management Promises to Study Sarbagita Bus Service to Baliís Airport

(10/21/2012) Radar Bali reports that continuing demands for an end on the tax monopoly at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport and for easier passengers access to the island’s sole air gateway may yet yield success.

Bali’s ongoing problems with traffic congestion are also fueling calls for urgent steps to ease airport access.

Calls for a change in transportation policy have also come from the Provincial House of Representatives that will end the illegal monopolistic hold on airport transport held by a single taxi cooperative.

In response, the general manager of PT Angkasa Pura, Purwanto, has promised to examine how to provide access to the airport for the expanding Sarbagita Bus System. Purwanto, who heads the Ngurah Rai Airport Authority, said: “I can guarantee (access) for public transport will be provided for. What ever name it goes by.”

Speaking on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, Purwanto said the Sarbagita Bus System represents a possible option in improving airport access. Adding: “As long as it does not violate any existing rules at the airport and can optimize the service, why not? Yes, we’ll grant it.”

He added, however, that any change to the current situation must be carefully studied beforehand.
