6th Canggu Club Classic Open Tennis Tournament in Bali May 4-11, 2013

(4/15/2013) 6th Annual Canggu Club Classic Open Tennis Tournament returns May 4-11, 2013 with players already signed from Amsterdam, Australia and the USA eager to travel to Bali to put their skills against other pro and amateur players for prize purses totaling Rp. 20 million (US$2,000).

Fifteen divisions of play from Junior Singles to Open Doubles will be in contention in amateur, super-amateur and open divisions of play. A knockout tournament starts on Saturday 4th May and runs until the finals on Saturday, May 11th.

A pre-tournament opening cocktail takes place on May 3, 2013.

The outgoing tennis pro of the Canggu Club, Robbert Wille, will oversee the tournament. He explained: “Each year I’ve seen this tournament grow from strength to strength and the tennis community in Bali is becoming stronger. Great athletes from abroad and locally get to compete together in a fun and relaxed environment on Bali’s best courts. “

Meanwhile Incoming pro for the Club, Paul McCabe, will be on hand. McCabe has worked with some of the top players in Europe and Asia. Coming to Bali fresh from Shanghai, Paul is excited being in Bali in his capacity as director of tennis at the Canggu Club.

Longtime participant in the Canggu Tournament, Jenny de Blecourt, says, “It’s fun to come even if you’re not playing. My goal every year is to win in the open division and despite the results I have a fabulous time with an awesome crowd of people who like to play as well as party.”

Returning to compete in 2013 will be Balinese-born Sana, seeking to defend a three-year winning streak in the Men’s Open Division. Also returning is Javanese athlete Nining who has won in the Women’s Division over the past two years.

Registration for the event remains open until April 30th.
