Out to Vote. Out in Force

Extra Police and Military Force on Alert During Bali May 15 Vote for Governor

(5/12/2013) The Bali Police will receive supplemental support from the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta in maintaining public order and peace during the May 15, 2013 election of Bali’s governor for the period 2013-2018.

Tempo.co quotes Bali’s Chief of Police, Inspector General Arif Wachyunadi who said on Saturday, May 11, 2013, “There will be 300 personnel from National Police Headquarters to help with the security of the gubernatorial election.”

The additional police will strengthen the presence of the Bali police who must also still attend to routine duties during the election period.

Vowing to keep the election process peaceful, the Bali police will deploy 8,082 officers or two-thirds of the entire complement of police assigned in Bali.

Indonesian Armed forces and community members will also be assisting the police in maintaining security.

The head of Bali’s Kodam IX – Udayana Military Command, Major General Wisnu Bawa Tenaya said all his soldiers would be ready to help keep the peace, saying, ”We will deploy all our battalions.”
