Managing Director of the Resort, Bipan Kapur, and his management team wanted to create a memorable welcome for arguably the most beautiful girls on the planet in order to underline the well known warmth of Balinese hospitality.

While at The Westin, the contestants had the chance to experience the Resort’s new wing featuring stylish accommodation categories, a lagoon swimming pool and signature initiatives. Each guest room is fitted with Westin’s next generation Westin Heavenly® Beds that ensured each contestant received the necessary “beauty sleep” during each night of their stay. The ladies also sampled a specially prepared breakfast and dinner at the Resort’s new Italian restaurant Prego.

In preparation for their rigorous stage performances, the contestants rehearsed choreography in the newly refurbished Exhibition Gallery. Some of the contestants learned traditional Indonesian dance in preparation for the show, while others used the WestinWORKOUT fitness center.

The opening ceremony for Miss World 2013 was held in the Mangapura Hall at the adjacent Bali International Convention Centre (BICC). That event was televised to viewers in 160 nations around the globe on Sunday, 8th September 2013.

Lending the charm of the island to their VIP guests, The Westin arranged a number of inspiring activities for those vying to be named the world’s most beautiful. This included an early morning turtle release on the beach of Nusa Dua supported by Bali Sea Turtle Society. This took place at sunrise and involved a ritual blessing by a Balinese priest to ensure the turtles would have a safe journey.

The girls were also invited to participate in Kampung Westin - an evening bazaar set up in front of BICC recreating a traditional Balinese marketplace with stalls selling handicrafts and souvenirs.
