Dutch Ditch Travel Warning

Dutch Government Lifts Indonesian Travel Warning.

(11/18/2002) The Dutch Calamietencommissie, the government agency charged with dealing with disasters, formally lifted their negative travel advisory for Indonesia on November 11, 2002, less than one month after the terrorist bombing which caused bureaucrats in Den Haag to defer all travel to Bali and Indonesia.

The Calamietencommissie is comprised of representatives from the Dutch Department of Foreign Affairs, Dutch travel bureaus, and the Dutch Motoring Association (ANWB).

The revised travel advisory reflects the Dutch official consideration that the situation following the bombing of October 12th has improved sufficiently to allow Dutch subjects to safely visit most areas of Indonesia, including Bali, and permit Dutch nationals to purchase travel insurance for their Indonesian holidays.
