Fire destroys 3-Storey Building on Jalan Raya Seminyak
Art Shop and Apartment Lost to Fire That Started with Short-Circuit
A three-storey shop and residential structure (ruko) located on Jalan Raya Seminyak No. 64 in Seminyak, Bali was destroyed by fire on Wednesday evening, January 9, 2019.
The scene of the fire was located just south of the well-known Warung Made Seminyak that was left untouched by the blaze.
Just prior to the fire that started at 8:30 pm, local residents reported hearing a loud explosion emanating from the second floor of the building. Shortly thereafter, smoke began pouring out of the building.
Preliminary estimates put the damage resulting from the fire at Rp. 2 billion. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Destroyed by the fire was an art shop measuring 80 square meters located on the second floor and an apartment on the third floor covering 75 square meters. It is not clear what business occupied the ground floor.
When efforts by the building’s occupant failed to extinguish the flames, the fire brigade was summoned to the scene at 8:45 pm.
As reported by Balipost.com, 15 fire trucks responded to the fire that was quickly extinguished at 9:20 pm.
Firefighters think the fire originated with a short circuit on the second floor.
