Beyond Bali: Hilton Dili Palm Springs Resort – A New Jewel in the Capital of a New Nation as Short Flight from Bali

Hilton Dili Palm Springs – a 5-star luxury resort set to open in Dili, Timor-Leste in the third-quarter of 2020, has announced key management appointments to lead the 150-room and suite property centrally located in Timor Leste that is now connected to Bali by a number of direct flights.

The hotel will boast 2 restaurants, a café, and rooftop bar and a range of meeting and entertainment venues.

Andre Gomez, the regional general manager of Indonesia and Timor-Leste for Hilton, in announcing a stellar management line-up said: “The upcoming opening of Hilton Dili Palm Springs is highly anticipated as it will represent the entry of Hilton into the market as well as the first internationally branded hotel in Timor-Leste. It’s absolutely critical that we have the right people in place to lead the hotel from opening through to operations and we are delighted to now be in a position to announce the core leadership team at the hotel that will set us up for success.” 

Forming the management team for the Hilton Dili Palm Springs:

General Manager: Ryan Mikkelson

A 24-year hospitality industry veteran, Ryan began his career with Hilton in Auckland in 2004 and has held various roles across in Operations and Business Development. In 2010, Ryan took on the role of Director of Business Development for Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo, before he was appointed Hotel Manager at Hilton Lake Taupo three years later. He then moved to the Northern Territory in Australia as Cluster Commercial Director overseeing four Hilton and DoubleTree Properties, before relocating to Timor-Leste to take on the role of general manager for Hilton Dili Palm Springs in October 2018.

In his leading role in Dili, Ryan will be responsible for leading and developing a team of 160 team members and for driving business performance of the hotel upon its opening.

Executive Chef: Esteban Gomes

Esteban Gomes joins the Dili Hilton Property as Executive Chef with more than nine years of international culinary experiences, most recently at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah as head chef after filling several culinary roles in Dubai, New York and his home country of Chile. 

Esteban will oversee all culinary aspects of Hilton Dili Palm Springs from menu creation for the hotel’s four distinctive dining venues, banquet menus to cater eight dedicated meeting and events spaces, in-room dining and an Executive lounge. Esteban along with his kitchen team will work with leading local producers to incorporate local flavors and ingredients into the hotel’s menus whilst also featuring international offerings.


Commercial Manager: Louise Kitchingham

Louise Kitchingham oversees the commercial operations of the hotel in the role of Commercial Manager. Louise will focus on developing and implementing the commercial strategy for the hotel including, creating revenue generation strategies for all market segments.  The role will also include supporting the commercial team in sales, marketing, catering & events, e-commerce, public relations, and reservations.

Louise joined the Dili team after spending 15 years in Darwin, Australia in various tourism and hospitality roles, most recently at Tourism NT working within the business events team. 

Human Resources Manager: Aziza Fazrina

Aziza Fazrina leads recruitment, training, talent and culture development functions for the hotel. Aziza comes to Dili, Timor-Leste with nine years of experience in human resources, most recently at Hilton Garden Inn Bali Ngurah Rai Airport where she implemented the HR strategy for the hotel ensuring team members were equipped and focused to ensure delivery of the hotel's strategic goals and revenue targets were achieved.
