Wife of Indonesia’s 6th President Dies in Singapore, Age 66.
The wife of Indonesia’s sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Ani Yudhoyono, died at Singapore’s National University Hospital on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:50 am.
The former First Lady of Indonesia succumbed after a prolonged battle with blood cancer. She had been hospitalized since February in Singapore.
Ibu Ani’s remains laid briefly in state at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore before being flown on a Hercules C-130 aircraft from the Indonesian Air Force on late Saturday afternoon. After landing at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, her body was brought to the family residence on Jakarta’s outskirts in Cikeas before receiving a State Funeral at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on Sunday.
The much-beloved Kristiani Herrawati Yudhoyono who was 66 years of age at the time of her death was born in Yogyakarta to Lt. General Sarwo Edhie Wibowo and Sunarto Sri Hariyah. She married a young military officer, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in 1976.
She is survived by her husband, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and two sons, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono.
