TYING THE KNOT IN ROMANTIC

Getting married on one of the world's most exotic
islands is the stuff of which dreams are made. Bali's's Sheraton Laguna
Nusa Dua and Sheraton Nusa Indah Resort offer a variety of intimate settings
at which to exchange vows of love and devotion.
These memorable locations include a private island
set within the hotel's gardens, surrounded by tropical palms and foliage.
Alternatively, pledge your troth in a temple gardens or an ocean front
Bale Bengong, a traditional Balinese relaxation pavilion.
The Sheraton Resorts Bali are offering special packages
in support of love and marriage. The Silver Package, priced at US$559++,
offers a standard wedding set up with Balinese decorations, a bottle
of champagne to toast your happiness after the ceremony, a decorated wedding
cake, a flower bouquet, and two flower girls attired in colourful Balinese
costumes.
For an additional US$110++, the happy couple may
enjoy the features of the Gold Package offering all amenities and services
in the Silver Package with an additional romantic candlelight dinner
for two persons at the Hotel's fine dining restaurant – Mayang Sari or
in the private Ocean Front Bale Bengong.
The Sheraton Resorts Bali offers both religious and
civil weddings in Western, Balinese or Indonesian style. All religious
weddings must have permission of the respective religious minister fromthe
Nusa Dua area who will perform the ceremony. Civil weddings must
be handled through a professional wedding agent which can be organised
by the hotel.
To celebrate the occasion, the resorts offer special
accommodation in their Honeymoon Suites at Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua for
US$200++ per room per night and in a Garden Suite at Sheraton Nusa Indah
Resort for US$170++ per room per night.

INDONESIA TOURISM TARGETS
SENIORS
Finalization of steps are now underway to ease extended
stays in Indonesia for foreign retirees wishing to live on the island.
The Minister of Justice has issued a ruling (Menteri Kehakiman No. M.04-IZ.01.02
tahun 1998) that will permit the issuance of one year renewable visas
for retirees 55 years of age or above. The visas, to be issued by Indonesian
Embassies after approval by the Director General of Immigration, will
have certain requirements, primarily concerned with demonstrating financial
capability, and will be processed by Indonesian travel agents appointed
by the Government to work with Seniors.
National Travel Agencies applying for permission
to process retiree visas must be able to demonstrate that they have handled
inbound travel for a minimum 3 years and have staff on the payroll experienced
in handling the needs of older travellers.
More details, as they become available.
PERTH TO BALI FARE:
LIKELY TO RISE?
Recently and quite suddenly, Merpati Nusantara Airlines
suspended its flights between Perth and Bali following the return of their
three leased Lockheed Tristars from Cathay Pacific. Fortunately, the some
850 passengers affected by the suspension were only temporarily stranded
as place was found for them on other carriers and hotels were provided
at the airline's expense when overnights were necessitated. Passengers
with forward bookings have all been given complete refunds.
Merpati was well known in the market for heavy discounting
on the route and speculation abounds in the Industry that with the "spoiler"
now out of the market place, Ansett, Garuda and QANTAS will soon increase
fares on this segment.
LET'S FACE THE MUSIC
AND DANCE
From March 22 - 30, the EKA BAWANA AWARENESS CENTRE
will present professional dance instructor Arthur Calandrelli and massage
therapist, Alain Stora, in a 8 day dance workshop. Hailing from San Francisco
and flying in to Bali especially for the workshop, Arthur and Alain will
teach techniques of free movement and the inter-related systems of dance.
Partnering skills, musicality, breathing techniques and knowledge of
dance patterns will also be conveyed at the workshop
For more information or registration contact the
EKA BAWANA AWARENESS CENTRE at Jalan Hang Tuah No. 43 in Sanur near the
Radisson Hotel. E-mail to ekabawana@denpasar.wasantara.net.id

BALI FEATURED IN CHICAGO
TRIBUNE
Bali received excellent coverage in the Travel Section
of the January 31 edition of the Chicago Tribune. In an article written
by Tribune Staff Writer, Alan Solomon, he highlighted his visits to the
Nusa Dua Beach Hotel, Hotel Tjampuan, and Amandari hotels.
To quote from Mr. Solomon's article, "It's impossible
not to like Bali. It's gorgeous. It's different. It's spiritual. It's
comfortable. OK, it's a little humid, so wear shorts except in temples
- most of them Hindu - where you wear sarongs."
He adds, "Most of all, you'll be hard-pressed to
find nicer people anywhere on the planet."
Mr. Solomon knows of what he speaks.
