As reported by BeritaBali.com, a 9-year-old Balinese Boy, identified by authorities only by the initials AGS, was crushed to death at 6:00 pm by a large Toyota Dyna Dump Truck driven by his 34-year-old father ARH on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Speaking on Thursday, 19 February 2026, Ipda Nila Cahyaning Wisnu of the Denpasar Police Precinct, described the fatal accident as the result of the negligent operation of the vehicle by the boy’s now grief-stricken father. She identified the exact location of the mishap as Jalan Serma Jodog, in front of the boy’s home at Number 3, KM 3, in the Dauh Puri Kelod district of West Denpasar at 6:00 pm the previous evening.
“At the time of the accident, the small child AHS was playing in front of the truck while his father, unaware of the boy’s location, was at the wheel of the Dump Truck,” explained Policewoman Nila Wisnu.
Preceding the event, the garbage truck was parked on the south side of the road, facing east. At the time, the truck’s tailgate was raised when ARH got into the vehicle’s driver’s seat.
Continuing, Officer Nila Wisnu said, “The driver then started the engine, stepped on the clutch, put it in gear, and lowered the tailgate.” While the tailgate was lowered, ARH allegedly suddenly released the clutch, causing the vehicle to lurch forward. Sadly, his son, who was standing out of his Father’s view in front of the truck.
The boy was struck by the truck, dying instantly.
Police report that the boy died from severe injuries to the head, a broken right hand, and significant cuts and abrasions to the thorax. The boy died instantly at the scene, after which the child’s body was evacuated to Denpasar’s Main General Hospital – RSUP Prof Ngoerah.
Officer Nila Wisnu added that the Denpasar Police continue to investigate the fatal accident. The boy’s father and witnesses have already been interviewed by police.
It remains unclear if the father will be charged in the death of his Son.
