Police Do Safety Check Ubud Monkey Forest

Ubud Monkey Forest in Bali Set to Reopen

RadarBali reports that in anticipation of the return of domestic tourists scheduled to begin on 31 July 2020, Police in the Gianyar Regency of Bali are checking the popular Ubud Monkey Forest in the Village of Ubud.

The Head of the Gianyar Police, AKBP I Dewa Made Adnyana, confirms that health protocols are now in place for both visitors and workers at the monkey forest attraction to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Adnyana explained the practical utility of preventing the spread of COVID-19, and that highly visible health protocols will also create a sense of well-being and safety for visitors.

Separately, the Village Elder (Bendesa Adat) for Padang Tegal, Made Gandra, confirmed preparations for the reopening of the monkey forest have already been underway for several weeks, dating from an inspection visit by the Ministry of Tourism.

Visitors and staff are required to wear face masks and undergo thermal temperature scans. Hand sanitation stations will be in evidence throughout the Monkey Forest.

In pre-COVID-19 times, the 26-hectare Monkey Forest welcomed an average of 6,000 tourist visitors each day. In the “new normal,” visitor totals will be limited to only 2,000 people each day to ensure physical distancing rules can be observed.
