Australian Charged with Drug Crimes for Smuggling Cocaine Via the Post.

An Australian national, Lamar Aaron Ahchee, 43, has been arrested in Bali for attempting to smuggle into Indonesia on Thursday, 22 May 2025 via a postal parcel containing 1.8 kilograms of Cocaine with an estimated street value of 12 billion Indonesian Rupiahs (US$ 735,000).

As reported by RadarBali.com, Ahchee is alleged to have received a parcel post package declared as stationery and toy dolls via the Indonesian International Postal Service.

Police sources said the Australian fought arresting officers at the time of his arrest.

In a press conference held at Bali Police Headquarters, Provincial Chief of Police, Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, revealed that the major narcotics bust originated from the dispatch of two postal packets from the United Kingdom on 12 April 2025 that arrived at Bali’s Main Post Office on 20 May 2025.

In Bali, the package initially underwent an X-ray examination by Customs and Excise Officers, strengthening suspicions that the packet contained narcotics. Working in cooperation with Police from the Anti-Narcotics Division, a “controlled delivery” to the designated recipient in Bali was undertaken.

The Chief of Police claimed that Ahchee tasked a Grab Driver, identified only with the initials YE, to fetch the parcels from the Post Office on 22 May 2025. Achee is alleged to have instructed YE to relay the package to another Grab Courier IMS waiting at a roadside food stand in Renon, Central Denpasar.

Working with orders issued by Achee. IMS carried the packet to Gang Manggis, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta. As YE traveled to North Kuta, Lamar Ahchee instructed the courier to fetch a second packet from the Renon Post Office in Central Denpasar and bring the item to the same address provided to IMA.

Meanwhile, Police dispatched two separate surveillance teams to “tail” the two Grab Drivers. When the drivers arrived at Achee’s location, the police acted, and the Australian was immediately placed under arrest. During the arrest, the police opened the two packages, witnessed by Ahchee and the Grab Drivers. Once opened, 206 small packets of cocaine were discovered.

Police said the packets of cocaine weighed 1,8 kilograms. Police also discovered a digital scale located in Achee’s accommodation.

Achee claimed no knowledge of the sender of the narcotics and was only following instructions from a person he called “the boss” who promised the Australian Rp. 50 million for his assistance in the drug smuggling operation.

Achee is being held by police as a suspect, with the two Grab drivers listed as witnesses The drivers claim no knowledge of the contents of the packets they delivered to the Australian.

Police estimate that the street value of the drugs at Rp. 12 billion in a sufficient amount to addict 2,666 cocaine users.

Achee is being charged under Section 113, paragraph 2 of the Indonesian anti-narcotics law of 2009. Conviction carries the threat of the death penalty, a minimum of 5 years, or a maximum of 20 years in prison. The Courts can also impose a fine of between Rp. 1 and 10 billion.
