The Indonesian Government has commenced the major redevelopment of the Bali Benoa Marina, aiming to make it an integral part of larger plans to establish Indonesia as a world-class sea tourism destination.
As reported by Kompas.com, Benoa’s development as a cruise harbor is part of a Master Plan for the Benoa Marine Tourism Hub (BMTH). The Deputy Tourism Minister, Ni Luh Puspa, presiding at the groundbreaking for the Bali Benoa Marina on Thursday, 22 May 2025, underlined Indonesia’s great and promising potential for sea-yacht tourism.
To secure its share of the yacht tourism market, the Government is prioritizing the development of supporting facilities, such as the Bali Benoa Marina.

“This project will be a catalyst for the development of other marinas in Indonesia from Sabang to Raja Ampat, from Labuan Bajo to Morotai, which will ultimately make Indonesia a major destination for world cruise tourism,” said Ni Luh Puspa via a press statement issued on Friday, 23 May 2025. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the development of Bali Benoa Marina will be achieved through collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, the Bali Provincial Government, PT Pelindo, and the local community. She hopes that this project will have a broad impact, especially on the Island of Bali. “I hope that this effort will have a big positive impact on the Bali Provincial Government, the community, culture, and nature, especially in Bali,” said Ni Luh.
To encourage Tourism Connectivity via the oceans surrounding the Nation, Bali Deputy Governor I Nyoman Giri Prasta said that the new marina’s presence will strengthen sustainable tourism development and open wider connectivity routes via sea routes. The event was also attended by Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and the Director of Strategy at PT. Pelindo, Prasetyo; President Director of P.T. Marina Development Indonesia (MDI), Ulf Backlund; and Head of the Harbormaster and Port Authority Office of Class II Benoa, Aprianus Hangky.
