Bali Weather Warning 9-16 August

The Denpasar office of the Agency for Meteorology, Climate, and Geophysics (BMKG) has issued a weather alert and warning for shoreline flooding and high water inundation in Bali for the period 09 – 16 August 2025.

The weather warning coincides with the full moon on 09 August and the relatively proximity of the Earth and the Moon on 14 August 2025, which will trigger significant high water conditions in the waters surrounding the Island of Bali.

The resulting weather conditions of these phenomena will directly impact port activities, the lives of those living on the Island’s shores, and shoreline fisheries.

The BMKG is advising the public in Bali to remain alert regarding updated weather forecasts.

The BMKG has highlighted the following areas as under threat of coastal flooding:

  • South coast of Jembrana Regency
  • South coast of Tabanan Regency
  • South coast of Badung Regency
  • South coastal areas of Denpasar
  • South coast of Gianyar Regency
  • South coast of Klungkung Regency
  • South coast of Karangasem Regency

BKMG is warning that the developing weather situation carries with it the following potential threats:

  • Disturbances to the boarding and disembarkation of passengers and guests in Bali.
  • Water pools in puddles in seaside residential areas.
  • Disruption in seaside seawater-salt and fish cultivation activities.
  • Flooding of seaside roads.
  • The timing and intensity of seaside flooding will vary from place to place, depending on local tide schedules.

BMKG is recommending that seaside communities remain alert and prepared for any eventuality. The public is reminded to monitor updates in weather forecasts and tidal changes. During the period of 09-16 August 2025, high-risk water and shoreside activities should be kept to a minimum.
